CDTA Exam Program
The CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) exam program teaches dancer's discipline and instills strong technique. It also provides the dancer with the challenge to improve their flexibility and become a stronger, more confident dancer and individual. This will be achieved by the satisfaction of ongoing improvement and completing their exam credential levels.
The CDTA Exam program is a valuable part of any dancers education and development and is for serious, committed dancers interested in furthering their dance education and potentially becoming dance instructors.

CDTA Tap & Ballet Examination Program
Similar to swimming lessons or piano examinations, the Canadian Dance Teachers' Association (CDTA) offers a progressive examination system where dancers advance through a series of graded levels. Each level is designed to build strong technical foundations, musicality, artistry, and confidence.
Throughout the season, dancers will learn the official CDTA syllabus specific to their examination level. Once the syllabus has been introduced in class, students will continue refining each exercise in their weekly exam class, working toward performing the material with confidence, consistency, and correct technique.
The examination program is designed for dedicated dancers who are committed to continual growth. Success requires regular attendance, a positive attitude, and consistent practice outside of the studio. While weekly classes provide instruction and corrections, meaningful progress also comes from practicing at home. Students are encouraged to review their syllabus regularly, and additional private lessons or extra help sessions are available at an additional cost for those wishing to receive further coaching.
Examinations are an opportunity for dancers to celebrate their progress and receive valuable feedback from an independent CDTA examiner. Our goal is to prepare every student to feel confident, capable, and proud of the work they have accomplished.
Examination Readiness
Students must demonstrate that they can confidently and consistently perform the complete examination syllabus before examination entries are submitted.
Throughout the season, teachers will conduct evaluations to monitor each dancer's readiness. These evaluations allow instructors to identify strengths, provide meaningful corrections, and ensure students are prepared for the expectations of the examination.
Examination entries are made solely at the professional discretion of the teaching staff. A dancer will only be entered once they have demonstrated the technical ability, confidence, consistency, and preparedness required for success. This decision is made in the best interest of every student and is not negotiable.
Our priority is to provide each dancer with a positive, successful examination experience. We appreciate your trust in our professional judgment and our commitment to entering students only when they are truly ready to achieve their personal best.
